Billinghurst Cave
Billinghurst cave is
found on the north side of the island. The top of the cave entrance is
just few meters below the surface and the bottom is at 27m meters. A
long tunnel- called "The Railway Tunnel" on account of its size leads
to a further cave deep inside. Today, the entire structure is called
Billinghurst Cave and has an entrance that is easily the largest of
all the caves in the country. The dive starts by a giant stride from
the top of the cave, a descent to the bottom, and a fifty meter swim
in the cave where one will be surrounded by lots of multi-coloured
sponges, soft coral and virgin lace coral. On going out, the big blue
framed by the dark walls of the cave cannot but inspire awe in the
diver coming out. |
