----------  NEW REGULATIONS !!! -------
The Malta Tourism Ministry, with immediate effect, has launched the long awaited Recreational Diving Regulations, the most important of which are listed below:

1.
Anyone wishing to enjoy any recreational scuba diving, even in totally controlled conditions such as a swimming pool, must complete and sign a self-declaration Medical Statement form. The purpose of this medical questionnaire is to find out whether you should be examined by a physician or not before taking part in any underwater activity. A positive response means that a physician must be consulted. We provide the service of a doctor specialised in diving medicine for those who require a medical check-up. The cost of this check-up is Lm6.00 Medical certificates from abroad are accepted.

2.  The minimum age to participate in open water diving is 10 years while the minimum age to dive in a swimming pool is 8 years. Divers under 18 years of age require written consent of a parent or guardian.

3.  Divers who are NOT yet qualified as PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, or BSAC Sports Diver, or CMAS ** diver, or equivalent, are required to dive accompanied by an instructor at all times.

4.  Divers with qualifications of PADI Advanced or CMAS** or equivalent or above, can choose to dive independently of an instructor (unaccompanied). For this purpose they will need a local diving license.

5.  Unless starting a beginner's course, all divers must show proof of their qualification and experience, such as certification and logbook, before being able to dive.
