Comino Caves

Comino Caves, also known as Santa Maria Caves, is frequently hailed as one of the most enchanting dive sites on Gozo. This boat dive guides divers through the intricate network of tunnels, caves, caverns, archways, and swim-throughs along the Comino Cliffside, showcasing unique natural underwater architecture that truly captivates.

Despite the abundance of offerings, this dive remains relatively easy and relaxed, accommodating divers of all skill levels and can be enjoyed at shallow depths. The boat anchors in a small inlet, setting the stage with impressive cliffs and cave openings, building anticipation for the upcoming adventure.

Descending to approximately 6-7m, divers can choose from three caverns with multiple navigation options. The dive unfolds amidst breath-taking natural features, including caverns, tunnels, and rugged archways that create mesmerizing effects as sunlight pierces through the surface.

The underwater landscape is not only visually captivating but also a habitat for diverse marine life, featuring Octopus, Cuttlefish, Nudibranchs, Moray, Scorpion fish, and various smaller reef fish. While the topography alone is captivating, exploring the rocky reef areas reveals a multitude of marine animals.

Given its shallow depth, this dive allows divers to move at a leisurely pace, savoring every aspect of the unique underwater scenery. Air consumption is generally not a concern, contributing to a relaxed and enjoyable experience. Exiting the caves into open water, divers are often greeted by massive shoals of Saddled Bream.

A favorite among Gozo divers, a journey to Comino Caves is undeniably a worthwhile adventure.
