P31 Patrol Boat

The P31 patrol boat, scuttled just off the coast of the crystal lagoon in Comino, is an incredible wreck dives for beginners and experienced divers alike.
The wreck sits upright on white sandy bottom at a maximum depth at 20m. It was scuttled in 2009, so over the past years has become a haven for marine life.

This is a boat dive, with dive boats usually mooring on the buoy which marks the wreck. The surrounding coastline is stunning in and of itself, with cliffs surrounding the site on the Comino side and the famous watchtower overlooking you.
After descending down the mooring line or anchor line, you can make a tour around the outside of the former patrol boat, surveying the 52m long vessel from distance. You can often also have some great marine life encounters on the shite sand surrounding the wreck, with small stingray not uncommon to see.
Massive shoals of damselfish engulf the ship with Lizardfish and Jackfish often actively hunting in the crystal clear water.

If divers are comfortable to do so, this wreck is great for penetration. It was prepared well for divers, so all possible entrances/exits are open and safe to explore, while still keeping plenty of character. Divers can explore the entire boat easily, making their way through the length of the hull and each part of the main level, before ascending slightly and checking out the captains area. With any wreck dive, just take care to look for sharp metal, and, as always, focus on great buoyancy.

Due to the shallow depth of the dive you can really take your time to explore and appreciate the wreck in its entirety.

Overall, a captivating wreck dive, suitable for those taking their first steps into the world of wreck diving, and experienced wreck lovers looking for a more relaxed, shallow adventure.
