Xwejni Bay

Xwejni Bay is a sheltered and shallow inlet along Gozo's north coast, just outside Marsalforn, offering a picturesque setting with the renowned Salt Pans gracing the coast on the left. The entrance and exit for this dive site are facilitated by a slipway on the left side of the bay, providing easy access. This simplicity makes it an excellent choice for individuals taking their first steps into diving, undertaking training dives, or simply getting back into the water after a break.

The initial segment of the dive remains shallow, offering an ideal space for beginners to explore, practice skills, and take their first breaths underwater. As divers venture towards open water, a gentle slope leads from 3m to 6-10m, providing an excellent area to explore. The rocky bottom harbors diverse marine life, with posidonia swaying in the current and numerous small valleys carved into the stone, creating intriguing topography. Visibility in this region is often remarkable.

Following the wall to the left of the bay, divers can reach a maximum depth of 12m. It's not uncommon to encounter Octopus and Moray hiding among the cracks, and around the washing machine (a distinctive part of the coast), schools of barracuda may be spotted during certain times of the year. Overall, Xwejni Bay offers a relaxed and enjoyable dive, well-suited for Open Water divers and those in the learning stages of diving.
